Brazil: Day Nine

Happy New Year 2020. Thank You all for reading my blog.

Brazil borders all other countries in South America except Ecuador and Chile and covers 47.3% of the land area in South America. Brazil also has the longest coastline in South America, the coast has a length of 7,941 kilometers.

Today we went to the area of Guapimrim (LITTLE SPRING), it is just a few miles outside of Teresopolis. Both towns claim the mountain in the following picture, it is called the finger of God (Dedo de Deus) 5417 feet and the most famous of the 7 peaks. From here, on a clear day you can see for miles. Below you will see a 180-degree panoramic view from the road and a snapshot of the group of mountains, the finger is on the left in the photo.

Finger of God

Just behind us is the statue of Teresa, the empress of Portugal, the town of Teresopolis (city of Teresa) is named after her.

This will be my last post of 2020. I hope you have enjoyed the updates on our travels around Brazil, we still have a couple more days. This will be my first time bringing in a new year not in the US. I hope you all have a good New Years Eve and I look forward to sharing my blogs with you and expanding it into next year. As always if you have any questions on the Country please let me know and I will try and get you an answer.
