From the problem of suffering and the fear of death to the origins of religion, faith, and meaning, this essay examines why belief persists across cultures and civilizations. It also considers whether purpose, morality, and fulfillment require a divine source, or whether they can emerge from human experience alone. Rather than offering certainty, this piece asks difficult questions about religion, evidence, consciousness, and the human need for explanation. Perhaps the most important question is not whether God exists, but why humanity has always felt compelled to believe that something greater does.
