When One Nation’s Politics Shake the World

DailyPrompt:When political leadership creates global tension, where do you feel it most—in your daily life, your sense of security, or your view of the future?

This really depends on whether the issue affects your daily life directly or indirectly. From my perspective, I don’t agree with anything the current administration is doing. I believe immigration is essential and has historically given the United States a tremendous advantage in every area of life. But I also believe it needs to be legal — my wife went through the legal process — and the current approach feels wrong in every possible way. Based on the prompt, the impact is direct for the people involved and indirect for me.

Domestic and foreign policy both feel like a mess, and I feel the effects personally. Even though I live abroad now, I still have to travel back to the U.S. because my family is there. I genuinely worry about how I might be treated at an airport, what flight paths might be affected, and whether some unexpected ICE situation could unfold. It sounds dramatic, but these are real concerns.

My outlook for the future of the U.S. isn’t optimistic. It feels like the country is drifting away from its roots and toward a more nationalist, isolated agenda that risks creating more enemies than allies. I don’t believe the U.S. should police the world — real strength comes from resolve, not intervention. Regime change has been attempted countless times throughout U.S. history, and the results have almost always been negative.

And now that I have kids, all of this weighs on me even more. Their future is what concerns me most.
