The Problem with “Ordering In”

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Seduction of…..

Sometimes the meaty, thick ones are just too heavy—they can be a real challenge to handle. Then you have the small, thin ones; they might look good, but they rarely hold your attention and always lack real substance. I prefer the beauties right in the sweet spot. They hook you in a minute. They’re a sure thing.

Shopping online is almost too easy. You just scroll, click, and pick the one that looks the most… tasty. The bio always looks okay, but the decision is a gamble—mostly because the return is impossible if it just doesn’t feel right once it’s in your hands.

Sometimes you have to go where the action is. Live. In the movement. Some spots are bright, some are a bit dark and private. Here, you can actually grab them. Pick them up.

I love the ones that are older and well broken-in. They have that special, musky smell of experience. Some are younger, but you never really know what you’re getting until you get close. You need to hold them. Turn them over. Stroke their back. Maybe fan them out a bit to see if they can keep up with you.

If they speak to you? Maybe that’s the one. You take it home, get it on the couch, and see how the night goes.

But honestly? I think I’ll pass. It’s too much work, and I don’t want to waste the shelf space. I’m sticking with my Kindle. At least there, I can always just hit “Delete” when I’m bored.

  1. I want to read more Ebooks since I’m running out of space on my shelf but I just can’t seem to get into it. I really enjoy paperbacks a lot more.

    1. I agree. I do the ebook for space. I gave away many books when I moved just because of the space.
