This June marks the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the largest sporting event on the planet, yes, bigger than the Super Bowl, the Olympics, and your neighbor’s annual “grill and complain about taxes” party combined.
Held every four years, this year’s tournament starts June 11 and runs until July 19, covering the United States, Mexico, and Canada, three countries, many time zones, and millions of fans acting like they know stoppage time.
Join me in watching and celebrating this global spectacle, where nations compete for four years of bragging rights or until the next controversial referee decision. As an American, I’m here for the excitement, with realistic expectations. If the U.S. makes a solid run into the knockout stage, I’ll consider that a win and maybe upgrade from cautious optimism to mild chest-thumping. Unlikely. But the flopping and acting are Oscar-worthy.
Now, my adopted country, Brazil, brings a bit more historical swagger. With five World Cup titles and legends like Pelé, they’ve set the gold standard. While they’re not the clear favorite this time around, counting Brazil out is like ignoring a storm warning; you might get away with it, but you probably shouldn’t.
To kick things off, I’ve set up a blog for all the action: 2026 FIFA World Cup . Check in, join the discussion, and make your voice heard as we follow every twist and turn together.
You can follow, comment, and share your takes, good, bad, or wildly overconfident. Next week, I’ll break down rankings, underrated teams, and a few storylines to watch as we get closer to kickoff.
Don’t just watch, get involved! Join the ride on my blog, share your predictions, reactions, and rants. Worst case, we get great games. Best case, we get chaos, and that’s where the fun really starts.
