A Positive Thing A Family Member Has Done For Me

Describe a positive thing a family member has done for you.

Many people have done positive things for me, but I would choose my wife and her generosity. We got married later in life, and I still had a lot of debt from my daughter’s education. That debt made it hard for me to think about retiring and limited what we could do together in our retirement years. My wife helped us get organized so I could focus on paying off what I owed. Years later, she was able to buy an apartment in Brazil, which is where I wanted to retire. That was an incredibly generous thing to do, and it helped both of us, but especially me. Without her generosity and commitment, she used her money, even though she didn’t have to, I might not have been able to retire at all, or at least not as early as I did. I probably would have had to work until I was 70 if I could have kept working that long. Her love and generosity made my dream of retiring possible. Considering our age, being in our late 40s to early 50s and only married a few years, this was a level of trust and commitment that goes beyond what anyone could expect. I am truly grateful for the love, support, and gift she gave that lets us have the life we enjoy today.

  1. That is a wonderful story. I am happy you find each other and that you could retire earlier. Working until 70 is terrible.
