Pets get a broad category, and I love all animals, in many ways more than people. However, for me, a pet is really a dog or a cat. These are pets you can pet, take out to play, and go for walks with, and you get a genuine connection because they live for years. They become part of the family. I don’t see fish as pets, or things like snakes and hamsters. They mostly stay in cages. Maybe horses, but still out in a barn. The best pets are dogs and cats. I would not say the others are worse. I don’t see any animal as a worse choice; they just don’t fit the pet theme for me.
