Opening
I wanted to share a little information on how I used Claude AI as a tool to help me with a recent project and teach me a few things along the way. This is a great example of how these tools can both assist with a practical task and serve as a powerful learning aid.
Phase 1: The Audit
I asked Claude to analyze my blog, beingkevin.com, to evaluate its structure, identify any broken elements or areas for improvement, and suggest ways to improve the layout, make it look more presentable, and engage readers.
The analysis came back in seconds. It noted that the blog has strong content, clear themes, and easy-to-navigate links. However, it also pinpointed areas for improvement: using a different font for better readability, introducing custom colors, cleaning up the header, and adding a proper footer (in fact, I didn’t have one). It also recommended visual dividers, a few more pictures, and a brief, two-paragraph “About Me” section touching on my life here in Brazil. In essence, the content was great, but the presentation needed to be more engaging.
Phase 2: The Execution Plan
My next prompt was to develop a detailed execution plan to implement these changes. I asked for an exact, step-by-step walkthrough. Because of WordPress’s inherent complexity and the way elements shift depending on your specific theme, having this roadmap was essential for a smooth transition.
I followed the plan, and it was about 95% spot-on. When a few things didn’t flow or couldn’t be located, I simply fed what I was seeing back into Claude, and it adjusted perfectly. Some of these hiccups were undoubtedly due to recent WordPress updates rather than the AI itself. Before I even started, the tool provided a mockup of what the new homepage would look like. When I finished, the real-world result was exact.
Phase 3: The Final Review
When the updates were live, I ran the same analysis request that I started with. This time, Claude caught one spelling error and an image missing a caption—both my fault! It also recommended a plugin to optimize my images and improve my Google SEO. After fixing those final pieces, I ran the prompt a third time.
The feedback was entirely positive: a clean blog entry, greater efficiency, better presentation, and faster load times—all while giving me fresh ideas to enhance visibility through SEO.
The Takeaway
This project is a prime example of how to leverage AI. With the right prompts, it saved me hours of time, spared me countless frustrations, eliminated the need for customer support, and left me with a more pleasing, engaging homepage. Best of all? I walked away knowing a lot more about AI, WordPress, and digital optimization than when I started.
