I’m sure every country has some sort of garbage or junk removal service. In the U.S., there were several. One I remember had the memorable (and slightly amusing) name College Hunks Hauling Junk. At least I think that was it.
Brazil has junk removal, too, but like many things in Brazil, they put a personal, fun, and happy twist on almost everything. Or at least they find a way to make you smile. I’m not exactly sure how that could be done with junk removal, but Brazilians have somehow managed it.
A truck comes through the neighborhood with a loudspeaker announcing it can haul away your unwanted junk. The announcement is in Portuguese, and my Portuguese is not quite good enough yet to catch everything, so my wife translated it for me.
That part is a little unusual in itself. I can’t imagine a junk removal truck driving through an American neighborhood broadcasting advertisements over a loudspeaker. But that’s not even the funny part.
After finishing his sales pitch, the driver starts singing.
That’s right—the traveling singing junk man.
And I have to admit, his voice isn’t bad.
Only in Brazil can taking out the trash come with live entertainment
