Daily Writing Prompt 27-Aug: Books I Hated but Finished Anyway: 1984 and Atlas Shrugged

Reading Time: < 1 minute

What’s a book you never finished but still think about?

There has never been a book I started and failed to finish. Even if I hated the book—and there are a couple I absolutely hated—I still finished them.

Two of those books are 1984 and Atlas Shrugged. Both are considered must-reads, and I know plenty of people consider them classics. I just found both of them to be a slog. Dull, boring, and at times an absolute chore to get through.

But here’s my problem: if I paid money for the book, I feel like I should read it.

Apparently, this is where my stubbornness kicks in. I can complain about a book for 400 pages and in the case of Atlas Shrugged 1200+ pages of pain, but I’m still going to finish the damn thing.

So I don’t really have a book I never finished but still think about.

I have books I wish I hadn’t finished.

  1. Made it through Pride and Prejudice finally, didn’t think I would and in the end…liked it.
