My Great American Travel Adventure: Leaving the Asylum

Reading Time: 1 minute

Yesterday on my tour of America travels (well, visiting family in Florida), I left my parents’ house and headed back for a few days with my daughter.

Here is a previous post on my Travel experiences.

The allergy situation is better. I can sleep, and I’m not sweating my ass off. However, I am back in the arctic blast, aka the ice freezer my daughter keeps her house at. Seniors keep the house a balmy 78!

I would have to admit, and I think my parents would too, this is a better living situation for all of us. They are very set in their ways and routines. I was getting in the way, and they were driving me crazy. Mom (aka Stalin) can be complicated. I have heard people say to my dad, “I don’t know how you do it.”

Anyway, I hired a transportation service that was fantastic. If you are ever in the Southwest Florida area, from Tampa to the Port Charlotte area, and need a ride, I would give this place a call.

They were fantastic. The car was spotless and comfortable, and I cannot say enough about the driver. He was friendly, and we had some great conversations. It made the two-hour drive go by in no time.

His name was Mike Daly, and on my next visit, this will be my go-to for a driver.

We talked about travel, my life in Brazil, and sports, a lot of sports. Since we’re both from the Northeast, him from Philadelphia and me from the Boston area, we had some good sports rivalries to talk about: Celtics/76ers, Bruins/Flyers, and Patriots/Eagles.

Mike made the drive fun and enjoyable, and I could not have asked for a better experience.
