BeingKevin Blog Performance: 60 Days of Views, Visitors, and Growth, BeingKevin Gets a B+

This is a follow up to the question on Monday, SEO strategies for bloggers. I used that post to do my next evaluation to see how my strategies are working and the results from the strategy.

Grading BeingKevin on its performance over the last 60 days, I’d give it a B+. That’s not a bad report card for a personal blog. Views increased by 39%, visitors jumped by 54%, and I published 138 posts along the way. The audience is growing, and that’s encouraging. But there’s still room for improvement, especially when it comes to turning first-time visitors into regular readers. So let’s look at the numbers and see how BeingKevin did.

How is BeingKevin doing? I took a look at the last 60 days of WordPress.com statistics to find out. The numbers show a substantial increase in traffic, more people visiting the blog, and an interesting change in how many pages they view. But traffic is only part of the story. The real question is whether those visitors become regular readers who return, comment, and participate.

This is a follow up to the question What are your strategies for SEO? October 12th

Here is a post when I first started to look at SEO, learn and improve

The following information and additional links show a definite improvements in trends. Also from google analytics I am showing an increase in impressions turning into clicks with a significant improvement.

Newsletter subscribers
117

The newsletter-status report explicitly identifies these as newsletter-list records. Of those, 61 are confirmed, 6 are unconfirmed, and 21 are suppressed.

WordPress site-statistics subscribers
342

This is the total returned by WordPress’s general site-statistics operation. The result does not explain exactly which kinds of subscribers it includes.

For the 2026 year I am averaging 10 new subscribers per month

SEO Numbers at a Glance

I compared two consecutive 60-day periods: August 12 through October 10, 2026, and the preceding period of June 13 through August 11, 2026.

Here is what WordPress.com reported:

MetricPrevious 60 DaysLatest 60 DaysChange
Views3,5164,896+39.2%
Visitors1,9653,019+53.6%
Average views per visitor1.791.62-9.4%
Posts published125138+10.4%

The last 28 days from Site Kit (Google Analytics)

  • Unique Visitors up 18.7 %
  • Total Impressions up 57.3 %
  • Average Time on a page up 15%
  • Total Clicks up 100%

Those are encouraging numbers. Views increased by 1,380, while the number of visitors increased by 1,054. I published 13 more posts during the latest period, but traffic grew considerably faster than publishing volume.

That suggests more people are finding the blog. The statistics alone do not tell me exactly why, but it is a positive sign.

Here is a post from September 1st where I did some analysis

Blog Views Are Up 39%

Views over two 60 day periods

During the latest 60 days, BeingKevin received 4,896 views, compared with 3,516 during the previous 60 days. That works out to an average of 81.6 views per day, up from 58.6.

For a personal blog, that is a meaningful improvement. It suggests the content is reaching a larger audience, whether through search engines, people sharing posts, subscribers returning, or other sources of traffic.

More People Are Visiting BeingKevin

The number of visitors increased from 1,965 to 3,019, a gain of approximately 54%.

That is particularly interesting because visitor growth outpaced the increase in views. In other words, the blog attracted more individual visitors, not simply more views from the same-sized audience.

The latest period averaged about 50 visitors per day, compared with roughly 33 during the previous period.

Of course, attracting visitors is only the first step. The next challenge is giving those readers a reason to explore more posts, subscribe, leave a comment, or come back another day.

Here is a similar post and how I used AI to do some analysis from July

Visitors Are Viewing Fewer Pages on Average

Average Visits per user

Here is the number that deserves a closer look.

During the previous 60 days, BeingKevin averaged 1.79 views per visitor. During the latest period, that figure fell to 1.62.

At first glance, that might look like a step backward. But context matters.

A new visitor who arrives through a search engine, reads one article, and leaves still counts as a visitor. If more new people are discovering the blog, the average number of views per visitor can decline even while overall traffic improves.

That is one possible explanation, not a confirmed cause.

The opportunity is to encourage readers who enjoy one post to discover another. Related articles, links within posts, clear categories, and an invitation to subscribe can help readers find more of what interests them.

I do not think every visitor needs to read five articles in one sitting. But if someone enjoys a post about life in Brazil, retirement, history, or one of my daily writing prompts, I would like to make it easy for them to find another one.

Publishing More, but Traffic Is Growing Faster

I published 138 posts during the latest 60-day period, compared with 125 in the previous one. That is an increase of about 10%.

The average works out to 2.3 posts per day in the latest period, compared with just over two posts per day previously.

The interesting part is that views increased by 39% and visitors by 54%, both considerably faster than the increase in publishing.

That is encouraging because publishing more is not necessarily the same as growing an audience. The goal is to publish material people want to read and make it easier for them to discover it.

These statistics do not identify which topics or individual posts performed best, so I cannot credit a particular category or article with the growth. That would require a closer look at the performance of individual posts and traffic sources.

What Does This Tell Me About BeingKevin?

There are three main takeaways from these numbers.

First, the audience is growing. Both views and visitors increased substantially compared with the previous 60 days.

Second, traffic growth outpaced publishing growth. I published about 10% more posts, while views rose by 39% and visitors by 54%. That is a promising sign that the increase is not simply a result of publishing more frequently.

Third, there is room to improve reader engagement. Average views per visitor declined from 1.79 to 1.62. That does not mean the blog is doing worse, but it gives me something to watch as the audience grows.

My next focus is straightforward: keep writing, pay attention to what readers respond to, make related posts easier to find, and give visitors a good reason to return.

I also want to remember that a blog is more than a set of numbers. The point of BeingKevin is to share experiences, opinions, humor, history, and observations about life. Statistics help me understand whether people are finding those stories, but they cannot tell me everything about the value of a conversation or the connection made with a reader.

The Bottom Line

BeingKevin had a stronger 60-day period in terms of both views and visitors. Views rose from 3,516 to 4,896, and visitors increased from 1,965 to 3,019. Those gains are encouraging, particularly because they outpaced the increase in the number of posts published.

The next challenge is turning more of those visitors into returning readers and active members of the blog community. That means continuing to write the kind of material I enjoy creating while making it easier for readers to discover other posts and join the conversation.

Now I have a question for you: What makes you return to a blog? Is it the writer’s personality, the subject matter, the humor, useful information, or the feeling that you are part of a conversation?

If you read BeingKevin, I would love to hear what brings you back. Leave a comment and let me know. Your feedback helps me understand what matters to the people on the other side of the screen.
