22,819 Days: A Journey Through Time
By Kevin

This is me around age two. I’m sure I was scheming or planning some mischief
They say time flies, but when you look at the raw numbers, it’s incredible how much ground we actually cover. I was born on July 20, 1963, and as of today, I have been alive for 22,819 days.
That is over 547,600 hours of breathing, learning, and watching the world reinvent itself over and over again. Here is a look at the world I’ve lived through—from the days of black-and-white TV to the era of Artificial Intelligence.
The “Personal Physics” of My Life
Since 1963, I have experienced a surprising amount of “extra” time thanks to the quirks of our calendar:
- Leap Years Lived: 15 (The first was 1964; the most recent was 2024).
- Total Minutes: Approximately 32.8 Million.
- Earth’s Travels: I have traveled roughly 13.4 billion miles through space as the Earth orbits the Sun.
A Timeline of Transformation (1963 – 2026)
🧪 Science & Medicine
- 1967: The first human-to-human heart transplant is performed by Christiaan Barnard.
- 1978: Louise Brown, the first “test-tube baby” (IVF), is born.
- 1996: Dolly the Sheep is successfully cloned, changing our understanding of genetics.
- 2003: The Human Genome Project is completed, mapping the blueprint of our DNA.
- 2020: The fastest vaccine development in human history occurs in response to COVID-19.
💻 Technology
- 1971: The first microprocessor (Intel 4004) is released.
- 1989: Tim Berners-Lee invents the World Wide Web (the reason you’re reading this blog!).
- 2007: Steve Jobs introduces the first iPhone, moving the entire internet into our pockets.
- 2023: The “AI Boom” begins as LLMs like Gemini and ChatGPT become household names.
🏟️ Sports Legends
- 1966: England wins the FIFA World Cup for the first (and only) time.
- 1972: Mark Spitz wins 7 gold medals in Munich.
- 1990s: The era of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls’ two “three-peats.”
- 2016: The Chicago Cubs win the World Series, breaking a 108-year “curse.”
- 2022: Lionel Messi finally cements his legacy by winning the World Cup in Qatar.
🌍 Historical Milestones
- 1969: Six years after I was born, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walk on the Moon.
- 1989: The Berlin Wall falls, signaling the end of the Cold War.
- 2008: Barack Obama is elected as the first Black President of the United States.
- 2022: The passing of Queen Elizabeth II, marking the end of a 70-year reign.

The “Oddball” Trivia
- The Cost of Living: In 1963, a gallon of gas was roughly $0.29, and a new house averaged about $12,000.
- Pop Culture: The #1 song on the day I was born was “Surf City” by Jan and Dean.
- Technological Relics: I have lived through the birth and death of the 8-track, the cassette tape, the VHS, the DVD, and the floppy disk.
- Population Boom: When I was born, there were roughly 3.2 billion people on Earth. Today, there are over 8.1 billion.
Final Thoughts
Looking back at these 22,819 days, the most striking thing isn’t just the technology—it’s the resilience of the human spirit. We’ve gone from the Moon to Mars, from telegrams to instant video calls, and through it all, we continue to build. This was the fun part of AI. I can easily query these dates in history and some of this data with a nicely crafted question. I’m also sure the billions spent on this technology were not the prime usage. Of course, I’m not a bot and the story of me is real.
