Ralph Waldo Emerson:
“For every minute you remain angry, you give up sixty seconds of peace of mind.”

There might not be a more profound quote to live by than this. Let’s face it: we all try, and we all fail, but that is okay—as long as we strive to get better.
You can apply this to both your personal and professional life. You will get frustrated at your job, and people will make you angry, but before you hit “send” on that email, count to ten. You can’t take it back once it’s out there.
In everyday life, how much time and energy do we waste on anger? Sure, it happens, and sometimes it feels unavoidable. But every one of those minutes takes away from the good things—a smile, a joke, or a moment you can never get back.
I fail at this myself. More than once, I’ve “lost it” on someone at work, only to realize later that I was wrong, too. I felt terrible, and those moments of peace were gone forever. But I am aware now, and I try to be better. I still have the thoughts, but I try to let them pass. Sometimes I win, sometimes I don’t, but I never quit.
Finally, Waldo is a cool name….
