This is a great prompt, especially with the AI growth taking off. Technology has always changed and always impacted jobs. I remember working before there was really the concept of the internet! However, I think the AI boom will be way more impactful because it touches everything from blue-collar to white-collar.
How did it impact me? Well, since I retired last year, AI was only really just getting into the mainstream. I think ChatGPT was really getting talked about daily in 2023. However, AI has been around for some time. I do have a post I’m working on that is more specific to AI than this prompt. When I left work, Chase had developed its own LLM, and I used it to craft better emails. Mainly because I can be a bit terse and acerbic with people, and my email was not wrong, but it didn’t give the warm-and-fuzzy. I’m direct, which means if I have already covered a topic with you and I have to explain it again in an email, I get scratchy. Enter the world of AI. I wrote my email with the message I wanted and asked AI to make it pretty, informative, non-confrontational, and make the person feel good. They were great emails, and my team would say, “Kevin used AI for that. “
This was just the latest technology trend to hit the work environment, and I have seen many, and I am glad I do not have to navigate this in the employment landscape going forward.
