I’m not sure what the significance is of remembering certain teachers, whether they were good, bad, indifferent, or just memorable for something odd.
I don’t recall many of my teachers, but None really influenced me in any way other than I just remember them and for strange stuff.
In fourth grade, it was Mrs. Harvey, mainly because she always seemed cranky and was probably the oldest teacher I ever had.
I remember Mr. Gelinaus in sixth grade because he had a glass eye, and if you asked, he’d pop it out to show you.
In seventh grade, Mr. Bostwick was only because he had a crew cut, and he taught us to count to 10 in Japanese, which I still remember. Kind of pisses me off since I’m struggling with Portuguese, which I need, but I can count to 10 in Japanese, and it has no value. Why the hell do I even remember that?
In the ninth grade, it was Ms. Dacy, wow, was she mean, and we wrote position papers every week. The class was Western civilization. The papers covered everything from politics to religion. Nobody passed the tests she gave. If you got a 15, you were doing well; the whole deal was how well you wrote your paper. I did pretty well in the class.
Finally, 10th grade was a fat turd with red hair. Taught Algebra. I was standing outside the class before the bell rang, just saying hi to friends, pretty typical. He comes out and says “you should not come to school like that” and of course my blunt response was “what the hell are you talking about” he says “stoned” I have never tried weed but This was 7 am and I had hockey practice the night before meaning by the time I go home to bed it was after midnight so I was tired. I more or less told him to shut up, and that was the end of it.
Never once did I have a teacher who influenced me in any way that I can think of. I remember a few other names, but that is it as far as teachers.
