My morning is the best time of the day. I wake up every day around 4:45, which is leftover from my work cycle. Years of getting up to drive to work are hard to shake. I’m not sure I want to because it is the best time of the day.
My first stop is the bathroom, of course, to wash my face and brush my teeth, and then straight to the coffee machine. It is three Nespresso pods of extreme strength, number 13, in my Seinfeld mug. Then I grab three Madeleine cookies. I make my way to the balcony and just listen to the birds and watch the sun come up. The sky is very interesting. Straight overhead is still pitch black, and as you move toward the horizon, it turns light gold as the sun rises over the ocean, and the mountain becomes visible.
I look forward to this every day. It is perfectly quiet, and you can listen to the city come to life. I sit here for about 2 hours. There is nothing better than just sitting with your thoughts, thinking about how lucky I am, and reminiscing about what a pretty good life I have.
