A WordPress Gripe

I have a bit of a gripe about WordPress, and P. J. Gudka mentioned something similar a few weeks ago. I want to talk more about it because these problems seem easy to fix. P.J said that some of her subscribers, or people she subscribed to, had to be added again because WordPress was randomly dropping or changing this information. I didn’t pay much attention to my subscribers list at first, but recently I noticed that when I got an email notification about a post and clicked to read it on my phone, it asked me to subscribe even though I was already subscribed to that blogger. When I checked my subscriber list on my laptop, it showed I was subscribed, so the information doesn’t seem accurate.

Another issue I have is with my list of subscribers. I looked through some of the older ones because I never saw any likes or comments from them, and when I visited their blogs, the links were either dead or there was no activity. I started removing what I thought were bots that had subscribed. WordPress should be able to monitor, control, block, or remove these automatically.

Finally, I want to mention the new features that connect WordPress to AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude. At first, they seem interesting, but part of the fun of blogging is doing the work yourself. Maybe I misunderstood, but it looks like one of the features lets an AI tool create and publish a post for you. If that’s true, what’s the point?

No matter which WordPress version you use, these problems should be fixed or automatically monitored. Losing subscribers is bad for readers and even worse for blog owners. That’s all for my gripe today.

I hope you enjoyed the post, thanks for reading. Please leave a comment or like.

  2. I’m having a tough time with these WordPress issues as well (not the AI – I’m a sloppy copy – create in my spiral notebook draft girl). I lost a few people that I follow regularly and now I’ve lost them. Somehow I unsubscribed from them and despite my search techniques I’m now unconnected. It’s frustrating. Hope they return someday but my brain hurts lately and I am getting tired of the hunt.

    1. Check in the wordpress reader or look in your liked or commented on posts maybe that will help. the liked will be on the left sidebar from the reader. Maybe you can find an old like and re-subscribe.

      1. Yes yes I will keep trying. Thank you. Some people I lost were not linked to me so now I’m starting fresh. Oh well.
