What’s a chapter of your life you’d title “The Hard Years”— and what got you through it?
To be frank, every year has its version of “hard.”
What I would have given as a kid to get out of cutting an acre of grass with an old, heavy steel Rugg push mower. But the challenges just change shape over time: starting out with a low salary and high expenses, navigating relationships, raising kids, and eventually retiring and transitioning into new phases of life.
Everything is hard in its own way. But if it were easy, you wouldn’t learn a thing or appreciate what you have. You take the good with the bad, adjust, and plan. There isn’t a chapter of “Hard Years”—only hard moments, and navigating them is precisely how we build resilience and character.
How do you get through the hard moments? You find a way. You have to.
