The prompt asks me to share a photo of my pet and tell you what made them unique.
The problem is, I couldn’t choose just one.
Over the course of my life, I’ve had five dogs and at least ten cats. Every one of them is gone now, and saying goodbye to each of them was one of the hardest parts of being a pet owner.

I’ve always joked that I tend to like and trust animals more than most people.
Maybe there’s a little truth in that.
Unfortunately, I don’t have many pictures of my pets anymore. In fact, I have very few pictures of most of them. The ones I do have are of the last two members of the clan.
Gunter was a Bloodhound, and Keesha was a Keeshond.

They couldn’t have been more different in personality, but they were both loyal companions who were part of my life for thirteen years.
Both of them passed away in my arms.
Gunter died peacefully at home.
Keesha passed away at the veterinarian’s office.
Those were two of the hardest days I’ve ever experienced.
People who have never loved a pet sometimes don’t understand the loss. Those who have usually don’t need an explanation.
They already know.
