Who is your favorite cartoon character?
I will answer this prompt tomorrow because, to me, any prompt that falls on 9/11 should have more meaning. It should not be asking who my favorite cartoon character is.
For me, marking the 25th anniversary should have come with a bit more thought from the WordPress prompt. Having said that, I will say this:
Never Forget.
I remember driving to work on Route 3 in Merrimack, New Hampshire, when I heard the first report. I thought it was a small plane accident. By the time I got to work, it was three planes, and we were in full lockdown. I was working at a financial services company at the time.
By the end of the day, I arrived home, turned on the news, and sat in my chair. I called my local recruiter about joining the military, but I was told they had enough people and that I was already too old.
I hung up, stared at the television, and cried.
The world, and more specifically the United States, changed that day, and I knew it.
What hurts just as much, even today, is knowing that we had an opportunity to really make a difference in the world. We had an opportunity to show real character, courage, and leadership.
I can’t help but think about how badly we blew that opportunity.
Never Forget.
Thanks for reading BeingKevin.
In a world built on scrolling past everything in seconds, I genuinely appreciate you stopping here for a moment. If the post gave you something to think about, made you laugh, or even made you disagree, I’d love to hear from you in the comments. A quick rating helps, too, and goes a long way toward supporting the site. And if you’d like to help keep BeingKevin going, a small tip is always appreciated — never expected, but deeply valued. Thanks again for being here
