One of My Favorite Spots — GoCoffee Brazil

One of my favorite local spots here in Brazil is a coffee shop called GoCoffee. I stop here several times a week for a coffee and my two favorite snacks. One I’ve mentioned several times before: pão de queijo, or Brazilian cheese bread. You can’t eat just one.

What makes the ones at GoCoffee special is their size. They’re about three times the size of the ones I get at my local bakery, and they’re delicious and always served hot. My other favorite is the coxinha, a deep-fried Brazilian snack filled with shredded chicken and cheese. They’re about the size of your palm and shaped like a teardrop.

I typically get two pão de queijo and one coxinha. Add a grande americano (coffee), and it makes for a perfect lunch.

I’m like Norm from Cheers here. They all know me. When I walk in, I get a big, “Bom dia, Kevin! Tudo bem?” I understand that one and can actually respond, which is progress. They know me so well that they usually just start preparing my snacks when I walk in.

I’ll often spend a couple of hours here with my laptop, researching blog posts, learning something new, or catching up on technology. It has become a nice middle-of-the-day routine.

The food and service are spectacular, the coffee is great, and there’s something I really enjoy about being a regular somewhere where people know you.

It’s one of my favorite retirement activities—and honestly, not a bad way to spend a couple of hours in the middle of the day.
