Being Kevin: The Weekly Dispatch

Tech, Books, and the Beautiful Absurdity of Life in Brazil

From the Beach In Rio

After 40 years in FinTech, I’ve traded software releases for a front-row seat to the organized chaos of Rio de Janeiro. This newsletter is my digital porch, a place for unpolished commentary, historical deep-dives, and the random thoughts of a guy who finally has the time to pay attention. I write to stay sharp, stay honest, and keep the conversation going.

The Weekly Lineup, I try to work in

I’m a systematic guy by nature, so I’m bringing some structure to the chaos. Here is what you can expect in your inbox:

  • Daily Prompt
  • Satire
  • Quotes
  • Gripes (Kind of my favorite)
  • News/opinion/commentary
  • Culture Brazil/food/places
  • History

Coming This Week: Behind the Curtain

I’m pulling back the curtain on the first four months of this year. I’ll be breaking down my blog analytics, how I did it, what the numbers revealed, and a few choice words for WordPress and its frustratingly hidden data. The first part came out 5/1. Let me know what you think.

I’m working on the second part. I am cleaning up all the data, putting all my notes and findings together, and I will have the part out mid-week. I will even break down the differences between likes, views, and comments, how that data is captured, and what it means for WordPress. I will also show trends by strongest and weakest days and main topics that work best for me, listed above, and how to strategically place them
