Have you ever liked a villain more than the hero? Who and why?
Absolutely. Apparently, I have a weakness for the bad guys.
We did cove this with the Trope prompt a week or so ago
Take Bane from the Batman series. I don’t read the comics, but I understand he actually killed Batman at one point. Now that is commitment to your profession. And frankly, it might teach the Dark Knight a little humility. Maybe stop being such a pretentious know-it-all and quit treating the Boy Wonder, Robin, like an unpaid intern.
Then there’s Thanos from The Avengers. That enormous purple bastard who went around collecting Infinity Stones like a retiree collecting souvenirs. He was ugly as hell, built like a refrigerator, and had absolutely no interest in anyone’s feelings.
I liked him.
Not because his plan was particularly reasonable. Wiping out half the universe is generally frowned upon at most dinner parties. But you have to admire the confidence. He showed up, collected the jewels, beat the Avengers senseless, and basically said, “I’ve got a job to do.”
And I have to throw Darth Vader into the mix. The man spent years being one of the most terrifying villains in the galaxy, dressed entirely in black, breathing like a broken air conditioner, and making grown men reconsider their career choices.
So yes, I sometimes like the villains more than the heroes.
Maybe it’s because the heroes are always running around talking about responsibility, justice, and doing the right thing.
The villains just show up, cause absolute chaos, and get on with their day.
Honestly, I can respect the efficiency.
